  2. REBAR LOCATING – Trees in some sections of Carolina Preserve were planted with steel rebar instead of wooden stakes. I must locate using a metal detector and remove any rebar before stump grinding. It is extremely dangerous to grind a stump without removing rebar first. There is usually rebar present in the older sections of Carolina Preserve, but your current tree is the 2nd tree, so the rebar may have been removed when the current tree was planted.

    FOUND REBAR charged @ $10-$20/piece. Trees typically have 3 pieces, but some have less or none where someone removed it already.

    TOTAL (typical): $0-$60 PER TREE

    *THERE IS NO CHARGE IF NO REBAR IS FOUND*.

  3. STUMP GRINDING (estimated until after 811 call and inspection work below completed)

    I will need to call 811 to confirm utility line locations. Grind mound area within brick paver border to approximately 5′ diameter. I will remove the brick pavers necessary to bring in the machine to grind the stump and place the pavers to the side, but I won’t be able to re-install them.

    – Also grind/dig out two large surface roots heading back towards the house.

    —– [General Stump Grinding Information Below] —–

    811 locates water and sewer to the curb, electrical, gas, and telecom to the house. Water and sewer generally go straight from the curb location to the house. If there is a question about water and sewer location the customer must waive my liability for these lines.

    811 does not mark irrigation systems, low voltage wiring (dog invisible fences, lighting, security, etc.) and other underground systems. Per my waiver, I cannot take responsibility for these unless notified as to their existence and location.

  4. STUMP GRINDINGS REMOVAL

    Remove 2/3 cubic yard of grindings from the main trunk area and dispose to allow immediate replanting of a new tree in the same location.

    If you’d like additional soil removed, I can remove it charged at the price of actual material removed.

  5. TREE REPLACEMENT – HOA size tree from the HOA list. 2″+ caliper, 8’+ height.

    Tree price includes tree, tree planting, and a 1-year standard warranty.

    -$520 Trident Maple (Acer beurgerianum) – I will need to get out to a couple different nurseries to check their quality, but depending on the nursery, the price will be either $520 or $595, most likely $520.

    -$885 ‘Bloodgood’ Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum) – This is in stock at my preferred nursery and I should be able to find a good specimen in HOA size.

    ====

    Trees on HOA list with typical pricing in HOA size, 25-gallon containers:

    $450-$550 Red Maple, Trident Maple, Crapemyrtle (various flower colors usually available), Cherry

    $550-$600 Carpinus (Ironwood)

    $850-$900 Japanese Maple (Bloodgood or Coral Bark/Sango Kaku)

    I don’t recommend planting Dogwoods in full sun locations. Other trees on list not available or not recommended.

    ====

    I only warranty trees that I purchase and plant. I will plant trees that the customer provides and charge based on container size but with NO warranty. I typically charge $170 to plant a customer-provided 25-gallon tree, assuming the location is bare dirt/garden bed. Other situations would be extra.

Estimate: If, upon arriving at the site, it is determined the final price will exceed the estimate by more than 25%, your approval will be required before work begins.

Quote: The price listed here is the final price unless you change your mind on what needs to be done.

Estimates and quotes are good for the shorter of 30 days or until the condition of the tree changes substantially, such as being struck by lightning or damaged in high winds.
